Why Summer Movement Matters, Especially for Kids
When the sun is shining, it’s not just your mood that gets a lift. Playing outside exposes your body to sunlight, which helps it produce vitamin D, a nutrient essential for healthy bones, strong immune systems, and overall well-being, especially in growing children. According to the CDC and Mayo Clinic, vitamin D supports calcium absorption and helps prevent conditions like rickets in kids and osteoporosis later in life.
But vitamin D isn’t the only benefit! Physical activity helps:
- Improve sleep
- Boost academic performance
- Develop motor skills and coordination
- Reduce stress and anxiety
Let’s use the month of June to get moving with purpose and with fun!
